The Pyramid at Giza Even though it is the oldest wonder of the world, The Great Pyramid of Giza is still standing. Over four thousand years ago, the Egyptian pharaoh Khufu built the pyramid to serve as a tomb for his own body after he died. About two million blocks of stone, each weighing more than two tons, make up it's 481 feet of height. It was constructed over about 20 years, so soundly that even today we don't understand how it was done. |
